Hello there! (watch Logorama…)

January 25th, 2010 by One Inch Man

Apologies for not updating sooner. It’s been quiet on the music front here in Studio 813 the last couple of months, due to broken equipment and what not.
I have been updating the photoblog fairly frequently though.
Not to mention posting photos to Twitpic and, just this last week, starting a Blipfoto Journal. (Which I just realised, I have not updated today! D’oh!)

Anywho, while I have nothing new to report music-wise just yet (I am working on stuff though), I thought I’d update anyway to
a) let the world know I’ve not forgotten this site and
b) share with you this awesome animation.

I already shared it via Twitter, but I’m sharing it again because it’s great.
The official site appears to be logorama-themovie.com but it wasn’t loading when I wrote this.
Maybe it works now though eh?

I’ll try not to wait so long before the next update.
I’ll also try and finish the site revamp too.

My photographs. Let me show you them…

The End Of The Road

It occurs to me I have so far failed to use my own blog to pimp my other blog.
Self promotion may not be my primary area of expertise.

Anywho, fact of the matter is, not content with tormenting your ears with music, it is now my intention to bother your eyes with my photographs too.

what my twitter posts *should* have looked like…

May 18th, 2009 by One Inch Man

So, the first part of the journey is over and I’m knackered.
I posted a few comments and pictures during the trip to Twitter via my mobiley phone, but I’ve discovered that the comments accompanying the images didn’t show up, they each just say “You have received a new message”, which sucks!
I figured I’d cobble together all the pictures/message I sent, in order, with the original captions. That way, should you care, you will have a better idea of what I was going on about!
(text messages in bold, messages that were meant to accompany photos in italics)

Mobiley phone acquired. Let Twitpicery commence! On the ferry to France. Yay!

Now in France. By way of proof, beaucoup de fromage!

Raining but warm, lightning seems likely. Electrical storms follow me everywhere I fear!

Just saw a kid walking around, carrying a shoe on a stick. I know not why.

After spending 33hrs traveling about 2000 miles I finally slept! Ants in 1st hotel room. Thanks ants. Thants.

Just drove through Cuisery, a french Hay-On-Wye. Books FTW!

The mountains are visible now, yay!

Foggy morning in the mountains (this picture didn’t show up at all)

But clearing up now

Beautiful scenery, just hope this piece of shit van survives the journey!

It’s crazy hot in this (looong) tunnel. When we come out - Italy!

Porno DVD vending machine? (pity you can’t see it properly in the picture!)

Arrived at port in Genoa. Are we in the right place? Who knows, absolute chaos!

Right place, wrong time ie seems. Everyone around us is headed to North Africa
(turned out to be the other way around)

Sitting in the heat, eating bonbonbonbons, wondering what the hell’s going on!

Finally onboard ship. “Ferry”=cargo ship, Grimaldi Lines=liars, Genoa port=epic, EPIC fail! Bollocks!

Off coast of Sicily, mobiley service back. Not much food on board, but sweet jebus it’s good!

There you have it. Now for a couple of days of intensive packing then I get to do most of it again in reverse!

It was 40 years ago today…

Earthrise

The above photograph, NASA image AS8-14-2383, or Earthrise as it became known, was taken exactly 40 years ago today.
On December 24th 1968 what I believe to be one of the most important, not to mention beautiful, images ever recorded was captured on 70mm colour film with a Hasselblad camera by astronaut William Anders during the historic Apollo 8 mission, the first to send men into lunar orbit.
The beauty and wonder of the image is only tempered by the sadness that comes from knowing we haven’t been back since 1972.

Stormy Weather…

November 11th, 2008 by One Inch Man

I’ve barely been online of late as the seemingly never ending electrical storms have ensured my computer remained unplugged.
Last night I spent a few hours outside, catching a chill, trying to photograph the lightning.

These are probably the most dramatic of my efforts.

Dipping my toe in the HDR waters

October 25th, 2008 by One Inch Man

As a rule, my photography is pretty much 100% Photoshop-free, or more accurately in my case, GIMP-free.
Generally speaking, my pictures are created inside the camera and I only use the GIMP to resize to more web-friendly dimensions.

Not that I’m opposed to image manipulation, it’s just not something I’ve ever really done before.

That having been said, I’ve been playing around today with the idea of HDR and tone-mapping and other fancy sounding things that I don’t really understand.

I’m liking the results so far and it definitely seems like something I can get into.

I can see me developing two separate styles of photography in the future.
Images created inside my camera and images created inside my PC.

Anywho, here’s a rather rushed example of my efforts.

They Came And Ate Us!

Oh Noes!

A photograph I took of a giant Bug Monster hurtling towards us through space. Probably.

Unless it’s one last defiant, suicidal attempt to destroy the insect invader before he devours the earth, in which case, good luck with that.
